Growing Strong in Wounded Places
Building Resilience in Families

Resilience is the quality that allows us to bounce-back from overwhelming life experiences. The problem isn't so much about what has happened to us, but rather how we assimilate the experience. There are 4 things you can do to build resilience in the face of life's obstacles.
- Do the task of the moment. No matter how small the activity it is important to stay focused and action-oriented.
- Focus on things within your influence instead of the worrying about what is beyond your control.
- Seek others for support & connection --even if you feel like withdrawing & being alone.
- Trust in something greater than yourself--This could be God, higher power, philosophy, love, art, nature--anything that helps you connect with a bigger picture of life that goes beyond the trauma.
